Description
Primrose Cottage is an early 19th-century former farmhouse that has undergone later alterations. It is a two-storey building with an attic and a rectangular plan, featuring three bays. The exterior is harled, with painted ashlar and painted concrete dressings, and includes a base course and an eaves band on the principal south elevation. The windows have architraved openings with vertical margins at the angles. The gables have partially concreted coping and scrolled skewputts, which are likely replacements.
On the south elevation, the arrangement is symmetrical, with a central entrance that features a late 20th-century part-glazed gabled timber porch and a replacement panelled timber door. There are flanking windows on both the ground and first floors, as well as one above the entrance.
The north elevation has an irregular arrangement, with an entrance to the left that includes a replacement part-glazed timber door, flanking windows, a stair window to the left of centre, and a first-floor window to the left.
The east elevation features a window to the right on the first floor and a small attic window to the left of the gable. The west elevation has a large window, likely inserted, to the left on both the ground and first floors, along with a small attic window to the right of the gable.
Most windows are 12-pane timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate, and there are rendered replacement gablehead stacks with concrete coping on either side. The interior was not inspected in 1999.
