Description
Coulnakyle Farmhouse, built around 1770 with later alterations and additions from the 19th century, is a symmetrical two-storey and attic house with a wide three-bay south-facing front. The exterior is harled with contrasting painted tooled ashlar margins. The central door is concealed by a later 19th century single-storey gabled porch, which features round-headed narrow side-lights on either side of the entrance.
The east and west return gables have symmetrical two-bay fenestration. There are also two later 19th century gabled dormers, with four-pane glazing, and a pair of coped ridge stacks on a piended local slate roof. At the rear, there is a single-storey, two-bay wing.
Inside, the farmhouse features a later 18th century pine staircase with turned balusters and square panelled newels topped with ball finials, along with later 19th century ceiling cornices.
