Millhouse, Walls, Hoy

Millhouse is a mid-19th century, two-storey, three-bay rectangular-plan house with later additions. It features a slightly narrower single-storey addition from the 20th century on the northeast side. The design is symmetrical with regularly spaced openings. The main block is constructed of coursed rubble, while the addition is timber clad in asphalt. The main block has coped gables.

On the southeast elevation, a late 20th century glazed rectangular-plan lean-to porch or conservatory projects from the central entrance, with entrances on either side of the main block. The entrance is set back and features a part-glazed replacement timber door. There are flanking windows on each floor and one above. The 20th century addition is slightly set back to the right and has three windows.

The northwest elevation has a small central window on each floor of the main block, with an inserted window to the left on the ground floor. The 20th century addition is slightly set back to the left and has a central entrance with flanking windows.

On the southwest elevation, there is a window to the left of the gable end of the main block. The northeast elevation shows the gable end of the 20th century addition projecting against the gable end of the main block, which is blank.

The main block features a combination of 4-pane timber casements and 4-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof of the main block is covered with asbestos slate, while the 20th century addition has a corrugated metal roof. There are gablehead stacks with band courses on either side of the main block, topped with round cans.
