Bowling Pavilion, Brandquoy Park, Kirkwall

The Bowling Pavilion at Brandquoy Park in Kirkwall was built in 1906. It is a single-storey, rectangular building with five bays, constructed with timber boarding. The pavilion features chamfered square-plan supports and timber railings along the veranda on the main elevation, and it has plain bargeboards.

On the south (principal) elevation, there are boarded doors located in the second, fourth, and fifth bays from the left, with a chamfered corner to the right. The centre and outer left bays contain windows. The north (rear) elevation has a window in a slightly advanced bay on the outer left, while the west (side) elevation features a window set to the right.

The windows are timber-framed with top-hung upper lights. The roof is a corrugated-iron cat-slide design, and it includes cast-iron rainwater goods.

Inside, the pavilion is largely intact. The locker room is timber boarded and has full-height fitted, numbered equipment lockers on each side, along with individual jack corner display shelving in the southeast angle. There is also a room with display cabinets, shelves, timber benches, and metal hooks.
