Description
13-15 Dundas Street in Stromness is a pair of symmetrical houses built in the earlier to mid 19th century, with later alterations. The buildings are two stories tall and have a rectangular plan, featuring three bays on the upper floor and five bays on the ground floor. The ground floor is cement-rendered with lined margins around the openings, while the first floor is constructed of squared and coursed rubble, with a band course separating the two levels.
On the east elevation, there is a two-leaf timber panelled door with a blocked three-light fanlight to the left of center, and another timber panelled door with a three-light fanlight to the right of center. Each bay on the ground floor has a window, as does each bay on the first floor. The windows display a variety of glazing patterns, including 12-pane timber sash and case windows on the first floor, and two-pane and small-pane windows on the ground floor. The roof is covered with grey slate and features a stone ridge, small rooflights on the east pitch, and a tall cement-rendered and lined, coped multi-flue common ridge stack to the south, along with an extended, coped, harled common ridge stack also to the south. The property has uPVC rainwater goods. The interior was not seen in 1997.
