Description
Mid to later 19th century. Single storey; rectangular-plan cottage with attached outbuildings and well preserved interior with box beds. Rubble construction.
S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: cottage to right. Entrance with boarded timber door to right of centre. Flanking windows. 2 small outbuildings adjoin to left. Entrance with boarded timber door to that to right. That to left rendered and stepped up at slightly higher level.
N ELEVATION: blank. Outbuilding to outer right stepped up at slightly higher level. Remains of side wall of earlier range adjoins to right.
E ELEVATION: small window to right of gable end.
W ELEVATION: large inserted 2-leaf timber door occupies width of gable end (formerly no end wall here but part of earlier range since demolished); corrugated asbestos to gable.
4-pane timber fixed casement windows. Flagstone roof to cottage. Outbuildings re-roofed in corrugated asbestos. Ridge/gablehead stacks with narrow band courses to either side (E and W) of cottage; one round can remaining.
INTERIOR: intact with baffle entry plan with timber partitions and box beds. Open to roof lined with timber sarking. Boarded timber doors. Stone flagged floor. Plain timber fireplace surround with mantel shelf to room to left of entrance (ben). Plain stone lintel to fireplace to room to right of entrance (but); cast-iron range.
