23 Main Street

This building is a single-storey cottage dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, located at 23 Main Street. It features three wide bays facing Main Street, a low wallhead, and later catslide dormers. The central entrance has a part-glazed timber boarded door with small windows on either side. The exterior is finished in painted pebbledash, which has replaced the original lime harl, and has smooth painted margins.

On the south (rear) elevation, there are three bays with a projecting bay to the right. A 20th-century addition has been made to the attic to accommodate a bathroom, along with a later glazed lean-to on the return.

The front of the cottage has timber sash and case windows with four panes each, and the roof is covered with grey slates. Inside, little of the original features remains, but there are two tiled fireplaces dating from around 1950.
