Description

Patrick Memorial Hall, located on Main Street in Gateside, Beith, was likely designed by Charles S S Johnston and dates from 1897. This single-storey village hall features Baronial architectural details and has a double pile structure with pitched roofs. The crowstepped gables are topped with ball finials. The front, facing Main Street, has three bays with tripartite stone mullioned and transomed windows and a string course above. To the right is the entrance bay, which includes a timber door set in a Tudor arch, with a plaque above inscribed with 'IRP 19th December 1873, 19th January 1893, Erected 1897'. There are small lean-to single bays on both the east and west sides. The building is constructed of squared and snecked blonde sandstone with dressed margins.

On the rear (north) elevation, there are four bays. The central left gabled bay features a 4-light mullioned and transomed window, with bipartite windows on either side and a small window on the outer right.

The hall has non-traditional UPVC windows that have replaced the original timber sash and case plate glass windows. The roof is covered with graded grey slates, and cast-iron rainwater goods are present.

Inside, there is little of interest, but a carved timber plaque in Renaissance style with a religious inscription can be found.
