Description
The gates and boundary walls at Speirs School in Beith were designed by James Sellars in 1887. They feature two tall and imposing gatepiers, which have been altered as the original gates were replaced with non-descript versions. Each pier is quatrefoil in shape, standing on a low, shaped plinth with a corniced top. At the top of each pier is an attenuated pyramidal cap that rests on four spheres. There is also a low coped wall with cast iron railings above it, along with an entrance gate to the right. The boundary wall along the road is made of squared and snecked tooled red Ballochmyle sandstone, with dressed ashlar piers.
