Description
The walls and gatepiers to Sykefield were built around 1880 and designed by Ewan Christian. They are constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings. The entrance features a pair of off-center gatepiers that are square in shape, with chamfered plinths and pyramidal ashlar caps topped with ball finials. To the left, there is a low wall with three short dividing piers that also have pyramidal tops, leading to a pair of square gate piers with wooden gates. To the right, a long wall is divided by six square piers with pyramidal caps. The road slopes downwards, causing the wall to rise on the right side. Between the piers, there are brick panels with partially open sections above.
