Description
71-75 High Street in Irvine is an earlier 19th-century tenement building that incorporates some earlier materials. It stands three stories tall and has three bays, with shops located on the ground floor. The exterior is rendered and features an eaves band, cornice, and blocking course.
On the High Street elevation, there are modern shop fronts at the ground level. The first-floor windows have panelled aprons and are corniced, while the second floor exhibits regular fenestration.
The rear elevation consists of three narrow bays and features a full-height bowed stair tower in the center, which includes a tall stair window and a half-conical roof. There are windows flanking the stair tower to the left, and a later addition is located in the re-entrant angle to the right. To the right, there is a piend-roofed, slate-hung tripartite dormer.
The building has plate glass sash and case windows, along with modern windows on the second floor. It is topped with grey slates and has mutual gable stacks.
