Description

The Church of Scotland in Kildonan, Arran is an early 20th-century building designed in a simple Arts-and-Crafts style. It features a Z-plan layout due to the lower transept wing and vestry. The church was converted into a residential property around 1995. The exterior is harled with ashlar and cement dressings, topped with a slate roof. It has three-light square-headed leaded windows, timber tracery on the gables, and two-light 8-pane sash and case windows on the vestry, all with chamfered cills and quoined jambs. The building includes a moulded eaves course and ashlar-coped skews, along with a truncated roof ventilator.

The front gable has a canted entrance porch at the center, which contains a two-leaf boarded door and windows. To the right of the porch is a two-light window, and above, there is a four-centred arch window at the gallery level. The west elevation features five three-light windows. The east elevation has a gable that is advanced at the center right, with two two-light windows and a stack at the left angle. There is a three-light window on the left return, and three three-light windows are recessed to the left of the aisle. A door and a two-light window are recessed to the right for the vestry.

On the rear gable, there are two three-light windows, and the vestry is advanced to the left, featuring a door and two windows, along with a tapered and shouldered stack and a half-piended roof.

The interior has not been seen. The property also includes two sets of round-section, stugged ashlar gatepiers with corniced hemispherical caps, along with an ashlar-coped rubble boundary wall.
