Star Inn, 13 South Beach Street, Stornoway, Lewis

The Star Inn, located at 13 South Beach Street in Stornoway, Lewis, is likely an early 19th-century building that has undergone alterations, including the addition of two dormers, probably in the early 20th century. This inn features two low storeys and an attic, with a long, symmetrically arranged front that includes a central door. The ground floor has five bays, while the first floor has three bays, with a wide unwindowed area to the right. The exterior is harled with painted ashlar margins. The ground floor has sash windows with 8-pane glazing, while the first floor windows are 6-pane, including two-pane top hoppers. The glazing in the pedimented dormers is similar but features two-light windows with glazed dormer cheeks. A modern skylight likely replaces an original one. The building has a slate roof with end stacks, a fascia board above the door, and an iron-bracketed inn sign shaped like a 5-pointed star.
