Description
6 North Beach in Stornoway, Lewis, is a building that appears to date from the early to mid-19th century, although it may originally be an early 19th-century house that has been re-modelled. The structure has two storeys and an attic, featuring three bays. The central door is adorned with a decorative shallow rectangular fanlight, while the right-hand bay contains a shop door flanked by shop windows. The remaining windows, including those in the piended bipartite attic dormers, are all sash windows with a 4-pane glazing pattern. The exterior is rendered to resemble ashlar with painted margins. A cast-iron bracketed rhone pipe is present, along with end stacks and skews beneath a slate roof. Some internal partitions have been removed to expand the shop area.
