1 and 3 Cromwell Street in Stornoway, Lewis, is a large and prominent corner building, likely built around 1886, based on its design similarities with 59 Cromwell Street. The building has two storeys and an attic, featuring painted render and neo-Jacobethan detailing. The ground floor has large shop windows, while the upper storey has arched windows, all of which have modern glazing that replaced the original sash and case windows with 4-pane glazing. The slate roofs are topped with a chamfered corner, although the eaves and roof detailing have been lost. There is a cornice over the ground floor, and a string course that steps down as a hood-moulding over the first-floor windows. The entrance bay facing Cromwell Street is off-centre, with a modern shop front filling the area to the left, and a simplified door canopy. Above, there is a wide shaped gable at the wall-head. The elevation facing South Beach is narrower and symmetrical, with three bays; the attic windows cut through the eaves and feature jerkined roofs, and there are apex stacks.
