Neptune's Bar, 11 Cromwell Street, Stornoway, Lewis

Neptune's Bar, located at 11 Cromwell Street in Stornoway, Lewis, is a prominent corner building that dates from the late 18th to early 19th century. It features a public house bar on the ground floor and stands two storeys high with a gabled roof. The building has rusticated quoins, first-floor window dressings, and lintels, which are highlighted with contrasting paintwork. The south gable facing Francis Street is harled and consists of two bays, while the ground floor at the front is rendered with plain ashlar and rendered margins, arranged in five bays. The first floor has ashlar walling and only three bays, with a wide centre wall-head gable. This gable includes a small-paned sash and case attic window, which is the only early feature remaining on either elevation. The building has skews and apex stacks, with the stack over the wall-head gable being rusticated over the south gable. The roofs are covered with slate, and there is a continuous fascia between the floors inscribed with the word "Cromwells."
