Description
Dalvey Cottage is a mid-19th century single-storey house built over a raised basement. Originally designed in a U-shape, it features a symmetrical three-bay south front that has been infilled at the rear. The exterior is constructed of harl pointed rubble with tooled and polished ashlar dressings. The central entrance is concealed by a porch made of ashlar, which has margins and a piended roof. The entrance includes a double-leaf plank door flanked by narrow sidelights. The outer bays are slightly advanced, and there are three-bay return elevations with a later porch and entrance on the west side, as well as a single-storey and attic service addition on the northeast. The windows have 2 and 12-pane glazing, and the building features corniced panelled ridge stacks and piended slate roofs. Trellises frame the outer front windows.
