Description
Balchrystie House is a late 18th century, symmetrical, two-storey, five-bay house built over a raised basement. The south front features droved ashlar stonework, while the rest of the building is harled. It has raised quoins and a band course above the basement. Steps lead down to a recessed central panelled door with a fanlight, which is set within a painted architrave topped with a cornice. The windows are 12-pane sashes. The house has bold end stacks and a piended roof with a platform and simple balustrade. On the north elevation, there is a basement door and a central semi-circular stair tower with a round-headed upper light.
Inside, the house features panelled doors within architraves, decorative chimney pieces, and simple cornice plasterwork.
