Description

The coach house, part of Charleton House, dates primarily to the 18th century, with later additions and alterations. Originally a stable block, it is now two stories high, though part of the roof has been removed. A cupola, topped with a 1921 clock, remains. The gate piers are from the early 19th century and have been relocated to this site, supporting wrought-iron gates designed by Sir Robert Lorimer in 1909. Large urns, along with Egyptian and classical figures, were acquired from the Cavendish-Bentinck estate sale in 1891 and are part of the ensemble. The coach house is situated within the entrance court of Charleton House, alongside associated walls and gates.
