Description
70-72 High Street in Aberlour is a later 19th-century, two-storey and attic building that features a symmetrical three-bay design, serving as both a house and a shop. The structure is made of rubble granite, with contrasting tooled ashlar sandstone dressings. It has paired round-headed entrances that are sheltered by a continuous hoodmould, featuring a monogram in the spandrel of the slightly advanced and pedimented central bay.
The outer bays contain bipartite windows, while the left shop bay (No. 72) has a tripartite window. The first floor outer bays also have bipartite windows, and there are paired canted dormers above. All windows have 2-pane glazing and exhibit long-short detailing in their dressings. The bays are separated by giant pilasters that are rusticated on the ground floor and panelled on the first floor, terminating in panelled dies. The outer bays are linked by decorative cast-iron brattishing at the wallhead.
The building features corniced end stacks and is topped with a slate roof.
