Description
Fleming Hall, located on Queen's Road in Aberlour, was designed by A and W Reid from Elgin and completed in 1889. This building is an example of Scottish Renaissance architecture and features a rectangular shape with crowstepped gables and a tower at the northwest corner.
The exterior is constructed of tooled rubble with tooled and polished ashlar dressings. The main entrance is situated in a recessed segmental porch, flanked by narrow lights, with a large four-light window above it, all beneath a shallow decorative head. To the southwest, there is a slightly set back single-storey, single-bay wing, and to the northeast, another slightly set back wing leads to a three-stage square tower. This tower has narrow corniced windows on the first floor, small oculi on the second floor, and a corbelled and crenellated upper stage featuring plain gargoyles. At the top, there is a square leaded belfry with three-light louvred round-headed openings on each face, topped by a shaped leaded ogee roof in the style of the 17th century, complete with a weathervane.
The north elevation has two bays, while the south elevation has three bays, both featuring long windows that break the wallhead under gablets topped with ball finials. The building includes multi-pane glazing, string courses, crowstepped gables, and a slate roof.
Additionally, a single-storey and attic three-bay cottage is attached to the east rear gable, which features corniced end stacks, crowsteps, and a slate roof.
