Description
The Old Drill Hall, located at 7 The Square in Aberlour, is a single-storey building designed in the Italianate style by Thomas Mackenzie in 1850. It has a T-plan layout and is constructed from harled rubble with tooled ashlar margins, while the east elevation is made of rubble.
The north elevation features seven bays, with entrances on the east and south sides; the southern entrance is concealed by a gabled porch. The windows are squared-headed, except for those in the gables, which have tripartite designs with block imposts and a single small oculus above each. At the southern gable, there is a round-headed bellcote beneath a small, deep-eaved slate roof. The building has coped wallhead stacks and slate roofs with deep eaves.
