Description
Kennels Cottage at Dallas Lodge was designed by W L Carruthers in 1901. It is a single-storey, three-bay house that features a single-storey, three-bay lean-to kennels at the front. The building is constructed from rubble with tooled ashlar dressings. The entrance to the cottage is through a single-storey, two-bay porch located at the west gable, while the east gable has a slightly advanced and corniced bipartite window. Round-headed dormers with multi-pane glazing are present in the outer bays and in both the east and west gables. The centre has a coped wallhead, and the roofs are covered with piended slate. The coped gable walls extend forward to create an enclosed yard in front of the house, which gradually decreases in height in front of the kennels and features shaped detailing. The outer west kennel yard is still enclosed with cast-iron railings, while the rest has been incorporated into the cottage garden.
