Description

Winchester House, located at 1 King Street in Elgin, was built by William Robertson between 1831 and 1832. This two-storey house is set on a raised basement and features three bays with a central doorpiece that is pilastered and accessed by a flight of steps. The exterior is constructed from rubble with polished ashlar long and short dressings and quoins, and it has raised tooled margins. The ground floor windows have panelled aprons and 12-pane glazing. The roof is piended and covered with slate. There are wings at the rear of the house that were added at various times. The property is enclosed by coped rubble garden walls.
