Description
Innes Infant School, built in 1841 by William Robertson, is a two-storey, three-bay house located on High Street in Auldearn. The building features harled walls with tooled ashlar margins. The centre bay is slightly advanced and gabled, with a segmental headed hoodmoulded door flanked by later bipartite windows. Above the centre first-floor window, there is an inscribed plaque within an open pediment. The roof has a small apex stack, and there is a projecting stair wing at the centre rear. A later single-storey addition with a piended roof is located at the northwest. The upper windows have modern double-glazed units with unfortunate sandwiched astragals. The building also has corniced end stacks, barge boarded gables, and a slate roof.
In front of the school, there are a pair of square tooled ashlar gate piers topped with shallow pyramidal caps, along with a pair of simple spearhead cast-iron double gates. The property is enclosed by a coped whitewashed rubble garden wall.
