Description
Glebe House and Walled Garden, built between 1828 and 1830, is likely the work of architect William Robertson. This south-facing, two-storey house features five bays and is constructed from coursed rubble with tooled ashlar margins. The central bay is slightly recessed and has an entrance that is obscured by a later glazed porch, which includes a pilastered and corniced doorpiece.
At the rear, two wings of the same construction as the front extend outward, creating a U-shaped plan. These wings enclose a small courtyard that is filled by a single-storey porch, along with some lean-to additions at the back. The ground floor windows are larger than those on the first floor and have 12-pane glazing. The house has paired coped stacks at the rear and is topped with slate roofs that have stone ridges.
The walled garden, made of rubble with a tooled ashlar coping, extends to the east of the house and is enclosed on three sides, with no walling on the south side. The west wall of the garden is connected to the rear of the house.
