Description
Inverugie House is a single storey and attic house designed by Alexander Reid of Elgin in 1864, featuring a rear raised basement. The entrance front, which faces east, has three bays and a central doorway that is highlighted by a curved Doric tetrastyle portico with a pediment at the center. Narrow sidelights are located on either side of the entrance, and the outer bays have advanced tripartites with piended roofs.
The symmetrical south garden front also has three bays, with an advanced center bay that features three windows and is fronted by a trellissed verandah, flanked by advanced tripartites. The glazing consists of 2- and 4-pane windows. Small modern flat-roofed dormers interrupt the wallhead. The house is topped with a piended platform slate roof and has corniced ridge stacks.
