Craigmount, Prospect Terace, Lossiemouth

Craigmount is a villa located on Prospect Terrace in Lossiemouth, dating from the earlier to mid-19th century. It is a single-storey building with an attic and faces east, featuring three bays. The exterior is harled with contrasting painted tooled ashlar margins and dressings.

The entrance is deeply recessed and has an oversailing roof that connects the canted outer bays, which are supported by a later pair of rustic wooden columns that reuse Doric capitals and plinths. The flanking canted bays have front and angle windows, each with slightly lugged architraves. The northern and southern return elevations feature round-headed bipartite windows with blocked imposts. The ground floor windows have aproned fenestration with 2- and 4-pane glazing. There are later shallow piended dormers on the north, south, and rear sides. The building has angle margins, base and eaves courses, and two central batteries of four square coped stacks on the piended platform slate roof. There are various additions at the rear.

Inside, there is little of interest, but early 19th-century panelled doors can be found. Surrounding the property is a coped rubble garden wall of varying height, with the entrance flanked by square tooled ashlar gatepiers that have corniced caps.
