Lossiemouth House, 33 Clifton Road, Lossiemouth

Lossiemouth House, located at 33 Clifton Road in Lossiemouth, dates from around 1780 and is a three-storey, five-bay house facing east. The exterior is harled with pointed harl on the south gable, featuring contrasting painted ashlar margins. A prominent circular drum tower projects from the center, rising to full height and topped with a conical slated roof. The doorway is situated in the re-entrant angle, with windows on the first and second floors.

The front facade has regular fenestration, with taller windows on the first floor and lower windows on the second floor. Most of the windows are 12-pane sashes, some of which have pointed head detailing on the astragals at ground level. The rear center bay has a gabled wallhead with an apex stack and irregular fenestration, including some blind windows. The house features coped end, wallhead, and ridge stacks, all under a slate roof.

Adjoining the northwest angle is a later 18th-century, low two-storey, three-bay wing that faces the street and forms an L-plan at the rear, complete with a coped ridge stack.

Inside, the house boasts a stone wheel staircase in the drum tower, along with fielded panelled doors and window shutters.
