Description
Grove Residential Home, formerly Struan Grove, is a house dating from around 1830. It is a three-storey, three-bay structure situated at the head of a flight of steps, with an oversailing pilastered doorpiece above a raised basement. The exterior is of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. Pilaster strips define the outer walls, and the central bay is slightly advanced, topped with a pediment. A bracketted cornice runs along the top of the building, and a shallow piended slate roof covers it, with raised gable chimneys. Enlarged windows are visible in the raised basement. The house appears on Robert Ray's 1838 map of Elgin. The statutory address is Pluscarden Road, Grove Hotel.
