Arch And Bellcote, Moray College Of Further Education, Moray Street, Elgin

The Arch and Bellcote at Moray College of Further Education, located on Moray Street in Elgin, was designed by A and W Reid and built between 1885 and 1886. This classical single-storey building features five wide bays, with the outer bays slightly advanced and the central sections further advanced. Each bay is adorned with three tall narrow windows. The base course is constructed of coursed rubble, while the upper sections are made of ashlar, with channelled pilaster strips at the corners. The building has a tetrastyle portico and a shallow piended slate roof. The flanks consist of three bays, with the central bay advanced and featuring three-light windows. An arch with a bellcote is located at the eastern gable. At the rear, the building is connected to modern extensions by a covered walkway.
