Description

24 and 24A South Guildry Street in Elgin is a building dating from around 1860. It is a two-storey structure with an attic, featuring a five-bay range that comprises four dwellings. The building is constructed of rubble with tooled and polished ashlar dressings and margins.

The entrances are located in the second and fourth bays, corresponding to numbers 22 and 24, and are set under open pediments supported by decorative carved brackets. The central bay has a narrow ground floor window, while the first floor includes five windows, with the center window divided by an ashlar mullion. There are two gabled dormers, each adorned with simple wooden open pedimental details, and the glazing consists of 4-, 8-, and 12-pane configurations. The building features corniced end stacks and a slate roof.

Additionally, cast-iron rainwater goods are supported by decorative cast-iron brackets. The entrances to numbers 22A and 24A are located at the rear of the building.
