Description
The Castlelaw Gate-Lodge at Arniston House is a mid-19th century building that was extended in the late 19th century. It is a single-storey, four-bay structure with a rectangular plan, built from coursed rubble with painted dressings and features a moulded eaves course.
The south elevation is asymmetrical and consists of four bays. The entrance door is located in the second bay from the left, with bipartite windows in the adjacent bays and a single window in the outer right bay. The east elevation has a single window in the center. The north and west elevations were not visible in 1997.
The lodge has a piended grey slate roof with lead ridges and two coped ridge stacks, one of which has a circular can.
The gate, gatepiers, and boundary wall feature rusticated gatepiers with circular recesses in the frieze and pyramidal caps. There is a decorative ironwork gate, a coped ashlar wall to the left, and a cement-faced wall to the right, along with rubble boundary walls that have semi-circular coping.
