Description
The Fraser Tytler Memorial, located in the Woodhouselee Burial Ground, was erected in 1893. It features a Celtic ring cross set on an ornamental plinth with a three-stepped base. The foundation is made of rough stone, while the upper sections are crafted from dressed stone.
On the east (principal) elevation, the memorial showcases a large knotwork central boss surrounded by smaller knotwork bosses on the upper limb, lateral arms, and lower limb. The shaft is adorned with a carved interlocking knotwork Celtic detail panel, which also extends to the returns. Below this, there is an inset metal plaque displaying the family coat of arms.
The west (rear) elevation features an interlocking carved knotwork cross on all arms, with three panels displaying carved Celtic designs on the shaft. The base of the memorial is inscribed with family names.
