95, 97 High Street, Dalkeith

95 and 97 High Street in Dalkeith is an earlier 19th-century, three-storey, five-bay corner tenement that was reconstructed around 1989. The building features ashlar stonework, with the west elevation harled and an eaves cornice. The windows have raised cills.

On the east elevation facing High Street, there are two late 19th-century tripartite shop fronts with cornices and Ionic pilasters, with No 95 on the left and No 97 on the right. Each shop front has plate glass windows flanking a central recessed doorway, with display windows on the inner return. No 95 has an ovolo-shaped fascia, while No 97 features a dentilled cornice. The first and second floors have regular fenestration.

The south elevation, facing Edinburgh Road, has three bays grouped to the left, with a window in the centre bay at ground level and regular fenestration on the first and second floors.

The west elevation is adjoined to Nos 2 and 4 Edinburgh Road on the right and features a piend-roofed stair tower at the centre. It has two bays to the left, a door to the right, and regularly disposed fenestration on all floors.

The north elevation is joined to Nos 101 and 103 High Street. The building has a 12-pane glazing pattern in the sash and case windows, coped skews raised to the northwest, and gablehead stacks on the north and south sides, all under a grey slate roof.
