Braeface House, 30-31 Ashton Road, Gourock

Braeface House, located at 30-31 Ashton Road in Gourock, is an earlier to mid 19th century, two-storey, three-bay symmetrical flatted villa. It features a steep terraced garden at the rear. The front is made of pink sandstone with an ashlar finish, while the rear and sides are covered in cement harling with painted margins. The building has a base course, raised margins, overhanging eaves with shallow brackets, and rounded reveals.

On the front elevation, there is a deep-set doorway at the center flanked by panelled piers, a panelled door, and a border-glazed fanlight. The first floor has regular fenestration, with windows in the outer bays. The rear elevation includes a small square-plan, piend-roofed service block on the outer left and a bridge providing access to a first-floor doorway at the center, accompanied by decorative iron railings. There are single windows present as well.

The east elevation features a central wallhead stack and two single windows. The front has four-pane timber sash and case windows, while the rear has 12-pane windows, which may be modern replacements. The roof is piended and covered with slate, with grooved wallhead stacks that have sunk cans on the east, west, and service block.

The interior was not seen in 1993. There is a low rubble wall at the front with saddleback coping.
