4 Russell Street, Lybster

This property comprises a group of buildings dating to the mid-19th century, located at 4 Russell Street, Lybster, and including The Yarrows and numbers 3 to 7 Russell Street. The return elevation of The Yarrows and number 3 Russell Street presents a two-storey, three-bay facade to Russell Street, constructed of coursed rubble with tooled margins. A continuous lintel band unites the ground floor windows and doors at both elevations. The first floor of the Russell Street elevation is blind, with a modern door and glazing in the centre. The roof is slate, and numbers 4 and 5 Russell Street adjoin the west gable.

Numbers 4 and 5 Russell Street form a two-storey, four-bay dwelling. It features paired doors centrally, with the right-hand door altered to a window. Modern two-pane glazing is present, beneath a slate roof. Number 7 is a three-bay dwelling with an additional opening; a former door has been inserted as a window between the main door and the right-hand window. Some original 12-pane glazing remains, although the property is now roofless. All buildings share coursed rubble construction with tooled dressings, similar to number 6. A single-storey, three-bay former bakery stands in the rear court of number 7, with modern glazing at the end and ridge stacks, and slate roofs.

Since a resurvey in 1982, some modern windows and doors have been inserted, and number 7 has lost its roof.
