5 Russell Street, Lybster

The Yarrows and numbers 3 to 7 Russell Street consist of a group of mid-19th century buildings located on Russell Street in Lybster. The Yarrows and number 3 have a two-storey, three-bay return elevation to Russell Street, built of coursed rubble with tooled margins. A continuous lintel band joins the ground floor windows and doors at both elevations, and there is a blind first-floor window on the Russell Street side. The building has a slate roof, a modern door, and modern glazing.

Numbers 4 and 5 Russell Street form a two-storey, four-bay dwelling with a pair of central doors; the right-hand door has been altered to a window. They have modern two-pane glazing and a slate roof. Number 7 is a three-bay dwelling with an additional opening, a former door having been inserted as a window between the door and the right-hand window. Some original 12-pane glazing remains. It is now roofless.

A single-storey, three-bay former bakery is situated in the courtyard behind number 7, featuring modern glazing at the end and ridge stacks, and slate roofs. All of these buildings are constructed of coursed rubble with tooled dressings.

Since a resurvey in 1982, some modern windows and doors have been inserted, and number 7 has lost its roof.
