The Yarrows, Main Street, Lybster

The Yarrows, together with Nos. 3-7 Russell Street, are a group of buildings dating from the mid-19th century. The Yarrows presents a two-storey, three-bay return elevation to Russell Street, constructed of coursed rubble with tooled margins. A continuous lintel band links the ground floor windows and doors on both frontages. The upper floor of The Yarrows facing Russell Street is blind, with a modern door and window arrangement, and a slate roof.

Nos. 4 and 5 Russell Street are a two-storey, four-bay dwelling, originally with paired doors in the centre, the right-hand door having been altered to a window. They feature modern two-pane glazing and a slate roof. No. 7 Russell Street is a three-bay dwelling with an additional opening; a former door has been replaced with a window between the entrance and the right-hand window. Some original 12-pane glazing remains; the building is now roofless. A single-storey, three-bay former bakery is located in the courtyard behind No. 7, with modern glazing, end, and ridge stacks, and slate roofs.

Since a resurvey in 1982, some modern windows and doors have been inserted, and No. 7 has lost its roof. The buildings are constructed from coursed rubble with tooled dressings, similar to No. 6 Russell Street.
