Lodge, Phoineas House

This is a circa 1858-60 entrance lodge, likely designed by David Bryce. It is a single-story building with gabled ends. The exterior is constructed of tooled ashlar stone with polished ashlar dressings.

The north-facing front, which faces the drive, is asymmetrical with two bays. It features a moulded doorpiece with an armorial panel above the door, flanked to the right by a canted bay window. The west gable, facing the road, has three parts. Tall chimney stacks are linked by a corniced ridge. The eaves project, and there are wooden apex finials on the roof, which is covered with artificial slate. A later extension has been added to the rear wing.

The lodge is associated with Belladrum House, also designed by David Bryce in 1858, which replaced or incorporated an earlier building. Belladrum House itself is now demolished, with only the garden pavilions from 1858 surviving. Three entrance gate piers dating from 1858 remain opposite the lodge, although the original arrangement is incomplete.
