Description
The Memorial Fountain in High Street, Ardersier, was created by Walter Macfarlane and Company of Saracen Foundry in Glasgow in 1901. This painted cast iron fountain commemorates the reign of Queen Victoria and is set on an octagonal concrete base with two steps, making it a prominent feature in the center of the village. A plaque on the north side reads, "by public subscription in commemoration of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria 1837-1901." The fountain has four decorative lion heads on the pedestal, which supports a quatrefoil-shaped basin adorned with foliate and floral relief. The basin is topped with a splayed pedestal that is decorated with foliage, birds, and a large urn. As of 2014, the fountain is no longer functioning.
