Description
The Victoria Jubilee Fountain is a fountain dated 1887, constructed from ashlar stone. It features a basin with a quatrefoil shape, which contains a pedestal that has a square plan. Each side of the pedestal is adorned with Baroque round-arch niches that display commemorative inscriptions about Queen Victoria's life. Above the pedestal, there is a dish decorated with acanthus leaves and lions' heads, which supports a smaller dish featuring entwined dolphins. Additionally, there is an iron ring set into the paving nearby, which is said to have been used to tie up a bull for the purpose of baiting with dogs.
