Description
Sundial House is a house dated 1778, located on the north side of Swine Market in Middleham. The building is rendered with ashlar dressings and has a Welsh slate roof. It stands two storeys tall and features two first-floor windows. The house has rusticated quoins and a central part-glazed door that is framed by a moulded eared surround on plinths. The sash windows are set in ashlar surrounds with straight tooling and sill bands. Above the door, there is a plain ashlar surround that frames a square sundial, which is painted with the inscription 'J B Sic labitur Aetas GARGRAVE FECIT 1778'. The building also has shaped kneelers and ashlar coping on the right side, along with two 19th-century dormer windows and end stacks.
