Description

Dated 1828. 3 storeys and attic, L plan, 4 bays to High Street,

wide advanced west bay. Rusticated ground floor, polished

ashlar above, polished ashlar dressings and long and short

detailing. Pilastered doorpiece at right of advanced west bay:

blocked doorway to left with centre window. Round arched window (formerly door) centre of 3 recessed bays. Moulded cill

bands 1st and 2nd floor windows; tripartites to 1st floor

except centre, recessed bay. 4 windows 2nd floor; 3 (slightly

later) piended dormers; 2-pane glazing. Unusual blocked eaves

cornice, centre block to recessed bay dated. Broad end stacks,

slate roof. Slightly later addition to Bank Street gable; 3

storeys, 3 bays; rubble fronting Bank Street, harled flanks,

ashlar dressings. Tripartites in 1st floor outer bay linked

by lintel band; 3 piended dormers raised through eaves, end

stack; slate roof.

Pair square ashlar gate piers with moulded cornices and plain

caps; coursed rubble walls; pair cast-iron gates of spearhead

design.
