23 And 25 High Street, Tain

23 and 25 High Street in Tain is an early 19th-century building that stands three stories tall with an attic, featuring three wide bays. The ground floor has shops, while the dwelling is located above. The building has an ashlar frontage that is painted at the ground level, with harled flanks and a south elevation that includes painted dressed stone margins. There are two doors with flanking shop windows, with No 25 having been modernised. Band courses separate the storeys, and there is a cill course for the first and second-floor windows, along with an eaves course. The windows have 12-pane glazing, and there is one original central piended dormer with 6-pane glazing.

On the south elevation, which offers a view of the hill, the building has two storeys and an attic over a basement, also with three bays. A substantial central stair tower features a pilastered doorpiece and a panelled double-leaf door. There are two piended dormers with 2-pane glazing, a stair window, corniced end stacks, and a slate roof.
