Description
Lybster Mains is a rambling house dating to the mid-18th century and early 19th century, along with a store and garden walls. The main house is a two-storey building of varying heights, constructed from harled or whitewashed rubble. It comprises a lower two-storey block with a T-wing set back to the rear, creating a re-entrant space featuring a semi-circular porch. The windows are arranged asymmetrically, and the house has corniced end stacks and slate roofs.
Adjacent to the house is a two-storey store with a raised basement, also of whitewashed rubble. It has a slate roof and a central door on each floor within the east gable; the upper door appears as a window.
Rubble garden walls enclose the site, with a round-headed arched entrance abutting the store. The store was likely used as a barn and formerly served as Lybster Mains' agricultural buildings.
