Description
The Old Boathouse, located on the Ardtornish Estate, was built in 1853. It is a single-storey T-plan structure made of rubble, featuring tooled rubble dressings. The building is positioned on a natural rocky platform, which includes an additional rubble platform and a landward causeway supported by low rubble walls.
On the west side, there is a high pointed-headed boat entrance, and the building is illuminated by pointed-headed lancets of varying lengths, with some being blind lancets. There is also a blind pointed-headed arch near the center of the north elevation.
At the center of the south side, there is a projecting gabled wing that has pedestrian entrances at the southeast and southwest re-entrant angles, although the southwest entrance is blocked. The east gable has a wide opening that is boarded up. The roof is made of slate with a tiled ridge.
