Description
The Fletcher Burial Enclosure at Rosehaugh House is a circular memorial designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1928. It features a heavy stone balustrade that supports a continuous bench seat along the inside wall. The enclosure has an entrance gate on one side and an oblong pediment on the other, which displays a circular plaque adorned with a simple laurel garland drape. The plaque is inscribed with the names and dates: JAMES DOUGLAS FLETCHER AUGUST 30 1927 AND LILIAN MAUD AUGUSTA STEPHEN OCTOBER 30 1955. The plain iron entrance gates are flanked by square stone piers that support a wrought iron arch, which is decorated with the intertwined initials JD and LF along with roses.
