Description
Fortrose Academy, located on Academy Street in Fortrose, was designed by John Robertson in 1890, with additions made in 1896 and 1904. The building features single storey ranges topped with ridge and piended roofs, and includes both bipartite and tripartite roofs and windows. A tall, circular clock tower is a prominent feature, which has a round-headed doorway, louvred lancets, clock faces, and a conical roof with a corbelled eaves course and a metal finial. The exterior is constructed of snecked ashlar with polished ashlar dressings, and the roofs are covered with slate. Large modern additions to the building are not included in the listing.
