Description
Delaware Hall, located on Station Road in Kyle of Lochalsh, is a former United States Navy hut, likely built around 1917. This building is a long, single-storey structure with a rectangular plan and gabled roof, featuring three bays. It is constructed of timber on a concrete base and has corrugated iron cladding on both the external walls and roof. The eaves are adorned with timber barge-boarding.
On the east side, there is a small gabled porch that includes a two-leaf timber entrance door on the north side, along with another two-leaf entrance on the west gable elevation. The north and south elevations feature six-pane glazed timber windows arranged in pairs, although the lower halves of the windows on the north side are boarded up. The east elevation of the porch has a four-pane sash and case window, as does the area to the left of the timber door in the west gable.
The interior, as observed in 2017, consists of one large room with timber paneling painted up to the wall head. The flooring is made of plain timber boards throughout. The timber roof structure is supported by simple metal trusses, and there are timber louvered vents located in the gabled ends.
